Privacy Policy

Information we collect

Account information: your email address and password. Your password is never stored directly; it's securely hashed by our authentication provider, Supabase.

Learning data: the vocabulary words, translations, notes, categories, sentences, and quiz results you create while using the app.

Usage data:your learning streak, timezone (used only to calculate what counts as “today” for streaks), and general activity like quiz scores.

Third-party services we use

We rely on a small number of trusted providers to run VocaShelf:

• Supabase: hosts our database, handles authentication, and stores generated pronunciation audio files.
• Google Cloud (Translate & Text-to-Speech APIs): powers the auto-translate and pronunciation features. Text you translate or convert to speech is sent to Google for processing.
• Vercel: hosts the application itself.

None of these providers use your data for advertising, and we don't sell or share your data with anyone else.

Cookies

We use a small number of functional cookies: to keep you signed in, to remember your active language, and to detect your timezone for accurate streak tracking. We don't use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.

Data retention & deletion

Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. Since VocaShelf is still early and self-serve account deletion isn't built yet, contact us directly if you'd like your account and all associated data deleted, and we'll do it promptly.

Children's privacy

VocaShelf is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

As the app evolves, this policy may change. We'll update the date above when it does.
