What VocaShelf is
VocaShelf is a personal vocabulary notebook for language learners: save words, build sentences, take typed quizzes, practise with AI-powered tools and a conversation partner, and track your progress. It's a small, actively developed product, so features may change and you may occasionally run into bugs. If you do, we'd genuinely appreciate you telling us.
Your account
You need an account (email and password) to use VocaShelf. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for the accuracy of the information you provide. You must be old enough to legally use online services in your country, and at least 13, to create an account. One account is for one person; don't share it.
Your content
Everything you save - words, translations, notes, sentences, notebook pages, conversation transcripts - belongs to you. We store it so the app can show it back to you, and we send the relevant parts to the third-party services listed in our Privacy Policy in order to provide features like translation, pronunciation and the AI tools. We won't use your learning content for anything other than operating and improving the app. You're responsible for the content you put in, and for not uploading anything unlawful or infringing.
Free to use
VocaShelf is currently free to use. Some features, such as the AI tools, have daily usage limits to keep the service sustainable and fair for everyone. When you reach a limit the app tells you.
AI features
The AI tools (word explanations, example sentences, word suggestions, word comparisons, the Sentence Analyzer and Conversation Buddy) are generated by a third-party model and can be wrong, incomplete or oddly phrased. Treat their output as a study aid, not authoritative instruction, and double-check anything that matters. Usage of these features is subject to reasonable fair-use limits to keep the service sustainable.
Acceptable use
Please don't use VocaShelf to store or generate illegal content, to harass or harm others, to attempt to abuse, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the service, to circumvent plan limits, or to access other users' data. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that do.
No guarantees
VocaShelf is provided “as is” and “as available.” We can't guarantee it will always be online, error-free or perfectly accurate - translations, generated audio and AI output all come from third-party services and won't always be right. To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Changes & termination
We may update these terms or the app itself over time, and we'll try to flag significant changes. You can stop using VocaShelf and delete your account at any time from Settings.
